Overview
The Premonstratensian abbey of Strahov, founded in 1143 on the ridge above Prague Castle, keeps two magnificent halls. The Theological Hall of 1679 and the Philosophical Hall of 1794 hold about 200,000 volumes beneath frescoes and walnut intarsia cabinets. The adjoining Cabinet of Curiosities displays dodo remains and scientific instruments from the age of discovery.
