Overview
Housed in the baroque Klementinum complex, a former Jesuit college beside the Vltava, the Czech National Library began as a public and university library under Maria Theresa in 1777. Its roughly 7 million items include medieval Czech and Slavic manuscripts and the unique Clementinum astronomical and meteorological records kept since 1775.
