Overview
Firestone Library, opened in 1948 as the first large American university library built after World War Two with open stacks, anchors a Princeton system of more than 13 million volumes. Its recent renovation restored the reading rooms and study spaces, and rare holdings include the Scheide collection, donated in 2015, with its Gutenberg Bible.
