Overview
Founded in Leipzig in 1912 as the Deutsche Bucherei and joined after 1946 by the Deutsche Bibliothek in Frankfurt, the unified German National Library collects every German language publication since 1913 plus German works printed abroad. Around 40 million media units make it one of the largest national collections in Europe, and it also administers the German Exile Archive and the Anne Frank Shoah Library.
